Passion For Trashin’

Sponsored by First Piedmont Waste Solutions

Art entry is September 25, 2018 – 2 – 7 pm at the Fine Arts Festival, NC

Presented by the Fine Arts Festival Association of Rockingham County

Passion for Trashin’, sponsored by First Piedmont Waste Solutions, is a recycle/upcycle art event. Art projects are to be made of found objects repurposed into art work. Items to be considered: broken shards of clay, glass, nuts and bolts, wire, foam board, hay, straw, wood, old jewelry pieces, etc. Use these items and any others you can think of to work your creative magic. Artwork must be ready to hang or display. If artist needs special display, it must be provided by the artist.

A judge from outside of Rockingham County will choose “Best in Show” and our guests at the reception will choose the “People’s Choice Award”. Artists may enter up to 3 pieces for the $10 entry fee. The “Best of Show” winner will receive a ribbon and $100 and “People’s Choice” will receive a ribbon and $75.

Art entry is Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024 from 3-6 p.m., and Wednesday, Oct. 2 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Fine Arts Festival Association headquarters, located at 301 Cherokee Camp, Reidsville, N.C.

The Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony will be held Friday, Oct. 4, 2024  from 6-8 p.m., at which time “People’s Choice” will be voted on and announced, as well as “Best in Show.”

The Passion for Trashin’ exhibit will then be transported to the Eden Library, located at 598 S. Pierce St., where it will be on display during library hours from Oct. 7-31.

Artists can choose not to have their artwork on display at the Eden Library. For those who do, the artwork can be picked up from the library on Friday, Nov. 1 between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Funding for the Fine Arts Festival Association of Rockingham County comes through grants, sponsors and donations including funding from the Rockingham County Arts Council through a grassroots arts grant. Funding for Passion for Trashin’ is provided by First Piedmont Waste Solutions.
